Some useful tools for converting and sharing video

For anyone who may be new to video manipulation and converting video formats, here are a few usefuls tips and applications to assist with this.

WinAvi – Rip, Copy and convert video formats.

If you want to produce video showcases, there are a large number of applications you can use. If you are using Apple Mac, then iMovie is by far the best i have come across and Adobe Premiere Elements for Windows. If you are looking for a free solution then Windows Movie Maker, or TMPGEnc. Windows Movie Maker only works with WMV video formats but comes fre with the Windows operating system, TMPGEnc is good with Mpeg video formats and there is also a free version.

Sharing your videos

After you have converted and burnt your videos, you may also want to share on the internet with friends and family. Youtube is the best and most well know solution for doing this. If you are looking for a secure file transfer protocol (Ftp) application then i would recommend DropBox which is supported on Apple, Windows, Linux. There are also mobile applications available for Android and iPhone. DropBox is a user friendly application that installs in your sysem tray and alerts you when new files are uploaded. A free account provides 2Gb of storage and allows you to build up your storage space via a customer referral system. Simply add users to your account via email.
